Before you ship
- Accept your 3PL quote and confirm your account setup.
- Share your product list with dimensions, weights and barcodes.
- Confirm receiving hours and delivery scheduling rules.
Label every carton
Each carton should show your company name, SKU, quantity per carton and carton number (e.g. 3 of 40). Mixed-SKU cartons should list every SKU and quantity. For Amazon-bound goods, tell your prep center which units need FNSKU labels.
Send an advance shipping notice (ASN)
List SKUs, quantities, carton and pallet counts, carrier, tracking or container number and expected arrival. The ASN is what the warehouse checks your shipment against.
Pallets or floor-loaded?
Palletized freight on standard 48×40 in pallets is faster and cheaper to receive. Floor-loaded containers fit more cargo but require manual unloading. Estimate pallets with our pallet calculator.
For international shipments
Your freight forwarder handles transport and your licensed customs broker files the entry. Make sure the delivery address and contact on the paperwork match the warehouse's instructions. A 3PL warehouse is not the importer of record. See US warehousing for international businesses.
